Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any sunlight, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a cozy place to be. That spreads far beyond completing annual air conditioner service too, because there are numerous things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your air conditioner is running at its best.

Here are a couple that we find very helpful here in Cambridge:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, can mean a great deal of air is escaping your home. It goes without saying that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is making its way outside too. There are various fixes that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly simple fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Change your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only boost your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can take care of it yourself. It’s usually recommended to change your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its performance, but some may last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can leave you with a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually appealing, they can likely improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of toxins that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Having air conditioner service done annually helps you be sure that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be fixed so your comfort isn’t conceded.

It doesn’t have to feel hard to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 410-228-4822  to learn more about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
